Step 1 - Required

The Frog Test

FROG test is required for:

  • swimming in the Big Pool
  • for all children under 12 years of age to participate in the Swim and Dive Teams

What is the FROG test?

  • Successful completion of the Frog test requires both:
  • A 50 Meter Freestyle swim with side breathing
  • 2 minutes of treading water at the 25 Meter point 

When can I take it?

The Frog Test is given at Martin’s Dam by a Manager during pool hours.

Who administers it?

Please ask the attendant at the front deck when a manager will be available to give the test.

Step 2

Register your child

Registration opens first day after Memorial Day.

Reminder: The SSL League requires that swimmers swim only for their SSL club. Swimmers may not swim for any other SUMMER team or league. 
This does not include year-round USA swim programs.
Infractions will result in the disqualification of said swimmer from all current and future SSL events, and the automatic forfeit of any meets in which the swimmer participated.

Step 3

Early Season

Practice sessions are organized by age group. Just show up at the designated time, and the coaches will take of the rest.

NOTE: Practices at this time of year can be chilly, so please pack extra towels and warm clothing in case we do dryland activities instead.

Practices

Practices begin in the daytime hours and are separated by age group.

Meets

Please note that not all divers will compete in every meet. We have a large team and we will put as many divers in as we are able. Please let Coach Megan know via email if your diver will be unable to attend a meet so that she can plan accordingly and be sure to get your diver in another meet!

Martin’s Suit is required.

Step 5

Championships

Championships is split into two days. Ages 11-12 and 15-18 will compete at the first Dive Championship Meet, and Ages 9-10 and 13-14 will compete at the second Dive Championship meet. Both are held in the afternoon into evening hours.

Only divers who have competed in a Varsity meet and with the required number of dives will be able to compete in championships.  

A final “Elite Meet” is offered to those who qualify in places 1-3 at Dive Champs.

We believe in representing ourselves as a unified front. Swimmers do not have to wear these at practice, but they are required in meets.

Frog Lessons

Group Swim Lessons are available throughout the season, taught by Swim Team assistant coaches.

Ages 5 and up with some swimming experience (freestyle and attempted side breathing preferred).

Chances for competition are offered through our Thursday Intraclub meets with fun prizes and ribbons.

Please see an assistant swim coach for an evaluation.

Parties & Camp Room Rental

  • Parties & Camp Room Rental – A party – defined as a group of members or nonmembers that would like to use MDC Pool facility and/or surrounding areas consisting of 8 or more people.

    • Camp Area Rental Fee (2 hour maximum rental unless approved by GM) – $100

      • Must provide Party Request Form 7 days prior to rental.

      • Non-refundable deposit of $25 upon rental request

      • Guest fee and policy applies to any non member attending rental/party

*All parties are at the General Manager’s approval. Party size, date, location, and price are at the GM’s discretion*

Guest Policy

  • Guests are permitted to visit MDC with any member that is 11yr and older. We allow kids to be at the pool by themselves at age 11.
  • Limit of 2 guests per member/per day – unless approved by GM.
  • Guests permitted 7x in a calendar year.
  • Guests must be accompanied by an active member.
  • Member must be present with guest during their time at MDC, unless approved by GM (no drop offs).
  • A guest will be asked to leave MDC Property if he or she displays behavior that is not in line with the club’s code of conduct. If a guest is asked to leave, they will not be permitted to return to MDC for the remainder of the season.
